HUMA is an interdisciplinary platform formed by artists and scientists connected to different universities and cultural contexts across Spain. Its work operates at the intersection of art, science, technology and society, developing artistic research projects, immersive audiovisual installations, sound compositions, publications and contemporary experimental practices.
The collective understands artistic creation and academic research as inseparable processes capable of generating new forms of knowledge and enriching teaching practices within the university context. Through transdisciplinary methodologies, HUMA fosters collaborative spaces where critical thinking and technological and scientific experimentation become tools for collective learning.
Its practice conceives art as a space of mediation between territory, body and sensory experience. From this perspective, the group explores current critical issues such as landscape transformation, data visualization and sonification, natural systems, interspecies communication and the effects derived from hyperconnectivity.
HORIZON
crossing terra / aqua / caelum
Horizon: Crossing Terra, Aqua and Caelum is presented at Museo Vostell Malpartida, within El Molino, as an immersive audiovisual installation accompanied by a live performance. The work engages with the conceptual and ecological legacy of the Canadian collective N.E.Thing Company and with the experimental spirit of Fluxus, exploring the relationships between earth, water, and sky through image, sound, and energy. The project is the outcome of the artistic residency developed by the HUMA Group at the museum during July 2025.
The installation transforms El Molino into a perceptual environment in constant mutation, where image, sound, and environmental data establish a dialogue with the landscape of Los Barruecos and with the intermedia propositions of Wolf Vostell.
During the opening event, the artists will activate a live audiovisual performance, reconfiguring the visual and sonic layers of the work in real time. The horizon thus emerges as a dynamic threshold between nature, perception, and technology.
The project is situated in continuity with Vostell’s practices and with the experimental landscape interventions developed by NETCo during the 1960s, understanding art as a mediation between territory, experience, science, and technology.
