The JRC makers-in-residence programme is an annual, short-term research-focused residence hosted by the JRC Makerspace, in the Joint Research Centre's Ispra site, in Italy. The residence is centred around specific concepts and themes directly tied to the science and technology policy topics considered in the Joint Research Centre's Annual Work Programme.

In view of the urgency felt, the SciArt project wanted to delve deeper into the cultural, philosophical and epistemological ramifications of our attitude towards Nature, feeling that such a reflection is an essential element to bring about real change. It intends to tie together the latest understanding of science, art and culture within a sound vision that liberates our concepts of nature from obsolete assumptions.
3D digital cultural heritage can provide important opportunities for cultural heritage institutions and for other sectors that re-use such content, including in particular in the tourism sector, for immediate resilience and recovery but also for long-term sustainability.
