We think that while current covid-times are dire, all the elements are present to take up the legacy of the Bauhaus as a new reflexive transdisciplinarity, to push decidedly into uncharted territories and start shaping an as yet unknown future. The SciArt movement has been showing this new direction, with growing strength, since the middle of the last century.
Artists across creative disciplines, countries and at any stage of their career are invited to submit an application to participate in the Resonances IV Summer School. As a melting pot of perspectives and disciplines, the Summer School will be a fertile ground for fermenting ideas on the theme of "NaturArchy: Towards a Natural Contract".
Today, Arts at CERN launches a new call for Collide, its flagship residency programme, in partnership with the City of Barcelona. Artists from all around the world are invited to submit their proposals for a research-led residency. The laureate, an individual artist or artistic collective, will be invited to spend three months dedicated to artistic research and exploration between CERN and Barcelona.
Since 2014, Arts at CERN and the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia have been working together to foster experimentation through the arts in connection with fundamental research. For the next four years, this partnership will be taken to the next level as part of Pro Helvetia’s “Arts, Science and Technology” focus to support artistic exploration across different fields. Together, Arts at CERN and Pro Helvetia are launching “Connect”, a new collaboration framework that will serve as a plat...
In 2019 I visited the “Spiral Jetty” twice: alone right after my arrival in Utah, and on the morning of a late summer day when I had to fly back to Italy. That was when I shot the video-performance “Vanishing Point” influenced by Smithson’s idea of entropy and disruption, and his interest in geology, time sediments, location identity (Kwon, 2002), and environment that are widely investigated in his writings (1996).

The AI Lab (European ARTificial Intelligence Lab) is a follow up project of the European Digital Art and Science Network and offers international artists working in the field of AI to win a residency at a scientific partner institution and at the Futurelab of Ars Electronica.
We invite artists and scientists who are interested in transdisciplinary artistic, scientific and technological dialogue. We welcome diverse interpretations, innovative concepts and ideas.
An artistic game-experiment performed in a space habitat and an authentic report of experiences from parabolic flights form the poles of a speculative discourse between an artist and a neuroscientist on conditions, possibilities, similarities, and differences of artistic and scientific research.
[ITA] Arti e scienze esprimono aspetti fondamentali della cultura delle società. Esemplificano il pensiero astratto, interpretano il reale e rappresentano, da punti di vista complementari, la complessità del loro tempo. Connubio indissolubile. [ENG] Arts and sciences express fundamental aspects of the culture of societies. They exemplify abstract thinking, interpret reality and represent, from complementary points of view, the complexity of their time. An indissoluble union.
[ITA] Emerge la complessità dell’arte e allo stesso tempo è l’arte stessa a sciogliere la matassa della complessità in un processo ricorsivo, fondamentale e imprescindibile dove l’arte di-svela la filosofia della/sulla contemporaneità.
[ENG] What emerges is both the complexity of art and, at the same time, the statement that claims that art can dissolve the skin of complexity itself in a recursive, fundamental and indispensable process where art reveals the philosophy of contemporaneity....

The ideas the author expresses here intend to codify the types of creative expression that may lead to the integration of art with science in the near future. The time has come for the emergence of a new science in which creative expressiveness is part of the research agenda and this essay aims at inoculating scientists with the spirit of art, and artists with the spirit of science.
With their shared interests in materiality and topical issues—the dual “matters” invoked in the exhibition title—the artists in the exhibition reveal an “epistemological turn” in the arts and sciences, focusing on how knowledge is produced and how the process of production inflects meaning and interpretation. This major presentation highlights how artists and scientists work together to imagine the future, today.

"My Monster: The Human Animal Hybrid" explores our enduring fascination and revulsion with the merging of the human and animal, and coincides with the 200th anniversary year of the publication of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.
Shelley’s seminal monster novel explores life and death and reanimating flesh. It is also the story of a hybrid outcast, for Frankenstein’s creature was made as a...
