We are happy to announce the launch of our new website at
www.archis.org.
Start a tour through the site’s unique dynamic archive – more than a decade of Archis content has been reorganised in an associative and narrative structure. Encounter coincidences and unexpected search results that will widen your scope and refuel your curiosity for the adventure of ideas in architecture, city and visual culture.
The comprehensive search engine also enables you to search the Archis database by content, author or object title and by theme and issue.
Participate in regular Archis events, live or on-line (RSVP below).
Archis frequently engages with critical spatial situations worldwide, offering actions, interaction and suggesting interventions. Soon the Events Space will also offer a forum for discussion and will feature regular debates.
We value your input, feedback, comments, queries and suggestions on the new website. Send an e-mail to webeditor@archis.org.
Read the first review at www.archined.nl.
The new website is an experimental and innovative project. We are currently looking for stagiares to help in the development and creation of its interactive aspects, in addition to building and expanding our database. Contact us for more information or remarks.
ARCHIS is INSIDE
Just out | Archis Magazine #5 2003, Archis is Inside
Architecture is about creating an inside, a sheltered place where you can feel safe, at home. The rest of the world is consequently ‘outside’. But are you really ‘at home’ when you are inside? Isn’t it just as possible to be at home outside? An Archis issue about the blurring boundaries between interior and exterior.
This issue’s project portfolio includes the latest MVRDV: Snow Land Agrarian Cultural Centre in Matsudai, Japan.
Archis needs you. If you do not already have a subscription to Archis’s bi-monthly magazine, available in English and Dutch languages, you can subscribe on-line or order back issues.
RSVP Events
A Quest for Ideas, Spirit and Action. A series of actions that will be organized all over the world from December 2003 onwards by Archis in collaboration with AMO.
Archis invites you to sign up to the new international RSVP events.
Archis is introducing a new form of debate. Events in which reflection and action coincide. In which spirit becomes architecture, the participant its bricks and mortar.
Too often architecture is full of concepts that are in danger of sinking under their own weight, with the debate about architecture being organized according to worn-out formulas – the conference, the lecture, the seminar, the workshop. Architecture seems to have been reduced to the mantra of academic exchange, far removed from realities in which architecture is not only a topic of discussion, but also a source of conflict.
Join us in a new form of debate. Archis or RSVP Events.
