[ENG] As every year, the Science Festival is collecting event proposals (exhibitions, workshops, conferences, special events, performances) through a call to help shape the program of the event.
This year’s theme, Uncertainty, aligns with UNESCO’s declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology. This initiative celebrates the profound impacts of quantum science on technology, culture, and our understanding of the natural world, while also marking a century since a group of scientists laid the foundations of quantum physics in Europe.
This year, Riga-based RIXC Center for New Media Culture celebrates its 25th anniversary. Since its founding, local collaboration and international networking have been at the heart of RIXC’s development. In this spirit, the 2025 festival is created together with key partners from Latvia, the Baltic-Nordic region, Europe, and world-wide.
Nine artists are chosen to participate in the project. Selection will be multidisciplinary and represent different sections of the E75 Art Bus route. Aim is also to find works that can engage people in communities either locally or through digital means. Preference is given to proposals that engage in new forms of visual art that are at the core of MUU activities: media art, light art, sound art, performance art, live art, community art, environmental art etc.
The Ethics and Aesthetics of Artificial Images (EA-AI) conference invites submissions from scholars across relevant disciplines, including but not limited to media theory, philosophy, art history, visual culture, new media studies, computer science, and artificial intelligence research. We also welcome contributions from practitioners in design and architecture, as well as legal experts. This interdisciplinary conference seeks to examine issues arising from the generation and dissemination of im...
[ENG] The festival draws inspiration from anthropological, philosophical, and ecological perspectives that question the separation between human and nonhuman, mind and body, nature and culture.

Discover how artists used machines and algorithms to create mesmerising and mind-bending art between the 1950s and the early 1990s. From the birth of op art to the dawn of the internet age, artists found new ways to engage the senses and play with our perception. Electric Dreams celebrates the early innovators of optical, kinetic, programmed and digital art, who pioneered a new era of immersive sensory installations and automatically-generated works.

[ENG] Although the artist is present, the art’s work will be performed in his absence, by other than human creative forces – more a performance in and over time than an exhibition of objects in space.
The Atacama Desert is the driest in the world with a fragile and unique ecosystem, co-evolved to survive with the small natural hypersaline lagoons on the salt plains. This lithium-rich groundwater is increasingly pumped and evaporated for its lithium salts, making use of lithium as a critical raw material to service a much-needed battery-led transition away from carbon fuel, addressing the existential issue of human-induced climate change. Ultimately, this is also destroying the fragile groundw...
[ENG] The result of provocative and edgy imaginations of renowned net.art pioneer Vuk Ćosić and the acclaimed collective IOCOSE, the new vocabulary - that looks at the digital sphere with irony and biting criticismis - is edited in collaboration with new media expert Vladan Joler.

Humanity & AI. The theme of this conference focuses on how to preserve the human complexity, with Generative Art and AI. Art, poetry, music, architecture, and historic cities need generative ideas for their adaptation to the deep new demands of our fast-changing time. Our field of interest is to identify these possibilities and relate the most advanced creative approaches of Generative Art and AI.
The immersive installation invites the audience to explore its story through an audiovisual experience, where the digital artwork merges with physical kinetic sculptures, transcending the poetic and scientific themes of ancient ecosystems, contemporary landscapes, and speculative futures. A multichannel soundscape weaves together audio recordings of rivers, forests, and the city, blending sonified river data with the ethereal voices of the Namur chamber choir.
How can we adapt to the changes that are already happening? How is the planet and its bioregions, biomes, and inhabitants sensing, seeing, and reacting to us? How can we prepare for those changes that are likely to come? What is the role of local and other-than-human knowledge, on one hand, and information acquired from space, the depths of Earth, and through satellites and remote sensing, on the other, in describing our hybrid landscapes and lifeforms?
From climate change to financial collapse, data surveillance to immigration politics, weather patterns to cultural histories, the exhibition offers artistic frameworks for studying a world where phenomena are too entwined to be observed individually.
[ITA] È uscita per Noema.media & Publishing la seconda edizione in lingua inglese dell’eBook Dialogues across the Seas. The Ocean that keeps us apart also joins us. Charting knowledge and practice in the Anthropocene.
[ENG] Is now out the second English edition of the eBook Dialogues across the Seas. The Ocean that keeps us apart also joins us. Charting knowledge and practice in the Anthropocene.
In a world dominated by military conflicts, climate change, migration crisis, fake news, and political rearrangements, the digital ecosystem – in which AI is one among other major actors – plays a crucial role. We, volens nolens, increasingly identify ourselves with the machine, while we employ various strategies of resisting the artificial. Art is an important part of this process.
From CAC.8, we propose a meeting to approach Generative AI from its multiple aspects, undoubtedly from a myriad of points of view, which will allow its inclusion in Art, Design, and Culture. We would like to create a symbolic capsule of space and time to reflect on the challenges, impacts, and scope of this new tool of knowledge, which is already modifying the processes of various human activities.
The European Commission’s S+T+ARTS initiative has awarded Arts at CERN, the arts programme of the Laboratory, the prestigious Grand Prize for Innovative Collaboration in recognition of its efforts to establish transformative collaborations that connect society with science and research.
